Governor’s Conference on the Management of the Illinois River System

Since 1987, the Illinois River Conference—officially known as the Governor’s Conference on the Management of the Illinois River System—has served as an important forum for local, state, and federal leaders to define research initiatives, develop coalitions, prepare new river and watershed legislation, and identify funding opportunities to address soil erosion, sedimentation, and other key river issues.

The biennial conference is chaired by members of the Illinois Water Resources Center and Illinois State Water Survey and coordinated by a planning committee from local, state, and federal agencies, industry groups, non-profits, and universities.
